Super Dudey with the Mini-Ex
Hi Shala Family!
We are continuing to do site clean-up and prep. Landon and I are both enrolled in a Permaculture Training that has us better understanding the land on which the Shala will be built. We are spending time connecting with the land. During a recent heavy rainstorm, Landon spent some time watching the flow of the water to determine where swales, dams, and other water management techniques will be employed. This video shows a steep learning curve in the Super Dudey world while we work towards water management at the lower level of the Shala site.
One of the missions of The Shala Project is to help spread educational awareness about sustainable living and in order to live sustainably, we must work with the land - not try to overrun it. The starting point is simply developing an awareness of your space. Where does the sun rise and set? What trees are around you? What birds do you notice? Take a moment to see where water likes to accumulate or if you notice any specific plants that flourish in your space. When we worth with nature, we allow a more easeful and long-lasting symbiotic relationship.
Stay tuned!
